Key Learning Objectives

Students will learn the basics of bar models, including their purpose, construction, and representation of quantities. They will explore different types of bar models, such as part-whole, comparison, and before-and-after bar models.

Students will be challenged with more complex word problems that require multiple steps and a combination of bar models and arithmetic operations. They will learn how to break down complex problems into simpler components and apply the appropriate strategies.

Critical thinking and mathematical reasoning.

Students will develop critical thinking skills by analyzing and evaluating different solution methods. They will learn to justify their reasoning and make connections between mathematical concepts and real-world situations.
